Après une projection à guichet fermé au Centre Cinéma Impérial et au Théâtre Maisonneuve de la Place des Arts, voici votre dernière chance de voir ce programme à Montréal en 2011. Chants, danses, romance, violence, action, combats, explosions, abus de gros plans extrêmes, mornifles et grosses moustaches sont au rendez-vous! Ce Zappin’ Party se veut une introduction festive à un genre cinématographique qui gagne réellement à être connu. S’il est vrai que les films bollywoodiens comportent à peu près tous un minimum de trois ou quatre numéros musicaux, ces films peuvent emprunter les formes et les codes cinématographiques de divers genres, dont l’action, la comédie romantique, l’horreur ou le suspense. En fait, l’un des aspects les plus intéressants de ce cinéma est justement le joyeux mélange des genres dans un même film et les fréquentes ruptures de ton — on peut ainsi passer d’un numéro musical à une scène d’action à la Tony Scott en un clin d’œil.
Ce programme comprend non seulement des extraits de films de Bollywood, mais aussi une riche sélection de Kollywood. Ce Zappin’ Party est une lettre d’amour qui célèbre tant la beauté et la splendeur de ce genre que les maladresses sympathiques et le kitsch indien. Le programme comprend des bandes-annonces, des numéros musicaux et des extraits de plus d’une quarantaine de films. Vous aurez droit à un réel survol des conventions du genre. Dépaysement et exotisme garantis!

His theatre, film and dance experience bring a flair for the dramatic, while Jan’s affection for techno and house keeps his DJ sets full of twisting turns and floor shaking grooves.
From Barcelona to Hong Kong, Poland to Canada, Jan’s sets have been shaking dancefloors around the globe. In Montreal he continues to play and help develop various projects at the Société des arts technologiques (SAT). Louise Gauvreau, aka Maus, was raised by Jazz and Disco music-freaks. She is the queen of mashed potatoes and once dreamed to be Barry White's wife. In 2005, she decided to back off a little from the “DJ giging thing” and dedicate most of her time learning music production. Today, after a few music collaborations including a remix for legendary cold- wave band Trisomie 21 (Chromo Music, FR) she has a few original tracks signed on Toronto's label, Thoughtless Music.

With less than a month away from their show in Brooklyn, New York at Rouge 58, Montreal based artists Alan Ganev, JP King, Tim Barnard and Regimental Oneton are putting an art show together through Cease collective at Underworld skate shop. The intention of the show is to raise funds for their upcoming trip and promote their latest artworks.

In response to the ongoing triple catastrophe that has hit Japan – the magnitude 9.0 earthquake, the tsunami, and the Fukushima nuclear emergency – many fundraisers have already been organized in Montreal and more will take place over the next days and weeks.
On April 1st, matralab, Hexagram Concordia and the SAT invite you to a seven-hour artistic vigil that will be held in solidarity with the people of Japan, and with their families and friends worldwide. ??? TAMUKE Offerings for Japan invites Montrealers to celebrate in music, poetry, images and ideas the resilience of the Japanese people, who, with thousands of lives lost, so many more displaced, and ecosystems in turmoil, continue to give the world so much beauty, strength and hope.
The event is not intended as a direct fundraiser, although we will offer links and access to fundraising and relief organizations. Rather, it is designed to show solidarity with the people of Japan; to provide a sanctuary for local artists and non-artists who have been touched by the crisis; and to establish a platform for artistic reflections on what this catastrophe means for humankind. We also hope to raise awareness of how the world is indebted to Japan for its great contributions to the arts.

The Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], ETS, ABB and ONOBOTS converge art and technology on a new level with WE ARE ROBOTS, a night of electronic music accompanied by ERO_BOTS – a spicy choreography for four industrial robots by Manon Oligny with original music by Jan Pienkowski. Following ERO_BOTS, the robots will continue to dance with you to the music of Akufen, Stephen Beaupré, Jan Pienkowski and visuals of Pink Rubber Lady and jocool.
